In collaboration with the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, the University of Ruhuna has put forth a project aimed at enhancing the playing conditions in Sri Lanka cricket, with a primary focus on raising the standards of cricket pitches and outfields.

Sameera Samarawickrama, IBMBB, university of Colombo for their dedicated support and collaboration, which have been essential to the success of this project.
This comprehensive initiative encompasses various facets, such as turf and outfield management, staff training, and the establishment of a technical laboratory, all designed to meet the specific requirements of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board.
The research project, led by Prof. Nilantha Lakshman, the coordinator of the research team, Prof. K.K.I.U Anura Kumara, a turf grass scientist, and Dr. Lahiru Prabodha, Director of UBL University of Ruhuna, actively participated in a meeting with Sri Lanka Cricket Board officials. Notable attendees included Mr. Ashley de Silva (CEO), Mr. Aruna de Silva (Head of Administration), and Mr. Pramodya Wickramasinghe (former chief selector), during which the team presented the proposal.
